この諺には色々なバージョンがあって、要は自分が専門家であっても自分自身で事の対処にあたるのは良くないと言っているのです。自分の都合の良いように物事を解釈しやすいからでしょうね。自分自身を客観的に見ることができない人間は愚かなのかもです。
