今回はイディオム、go all in について調べて行きたいと思います。go all out なら、全力を尽くす、総力を挙げる、本気を出す、とにかく頑張る、最後の最後まで諦めない、出し惜しみしない、といった意味になります。go for it は、目標に向かって進む、一か八か挑戦する、頑張ってとにかくやってみる、のような意味になります。さらに、go on in なら、中に入る、です。go all in は go all out の反意語と考えるべきなのでしょうか？それならば、頑張らないという意味になるのですが、なわけはなさそうなのでさっさと詳細な意味を調べてみます。

“go all in”は基本的にポーカー用語でここでは比喩的に使われているらしく、勝てる見込みがあるなら全賭けみたいな感じで使われるようです。さらに調べたら以下のサイトがありました。

“go all in”よりも”go all out”の方がメジャーなようです。確かに”go all in”で調べても日本語の意味は出てきませんが、”go all out”だと、全力を尽くす、という意味がきちんと出てきます。”go all in”が本来はポーカー用語だという事を考えれば当然の結果なのかもしれません。両者の違いは何なのかというと、このサイトの説明によれば、
