in no timeとat no timeは紛らわしいイディオムです。in no timeが瞬く間にといったような意味なのに対し、at no time = neverで、全く意味が違ってきます。think better ofという熟語も意外と曲者で、on second thought(考え直して)という意味の他に、考え直した結果やっぱりやめる(On second thought, I gave it up.)という意味もあり、さらに、誰かを見直して評価を変えるといった意味にもなります。紛らわしいことこの上ありません。

in no time

no time = ごく短時間、という意味であることを考えれば、in no time = ごく短時間で、という意味になることは簡単に想像がつきます。in no timeは、文頭、文末のどちらにも置くことができて、文頭においても倒置する必要はありません。In no time, I fell asleep(瞬く間に眠りに就いた)、I fell asleep in no time.と書き換え可能です。in no time flat = あっという魔にというフレーズもありますし、in no time at allと、in no timeをさらに強調する言い方もあります。in less than no timeやin next to no timeという言い方もあります。

in nothing flatというフレーズも、in no time flatのように、あっという間に、瞬く間にという意味になります。

at no time

I’d like to say, for the record, that at no time have I ever accepted a bribe from anyone.

In this sentence, do I really have to say like “at no time have I”??
would I be wrong if I’d say “at no time I have~”

Similarly,
would it be wrong “At no time I did give my consent to the plan” and
does it have to be “at no time did I~”??

「私は、これまで誰からも賄賂を受け取っていないことを、この際はっきりと言っておきたいと思います。」この英文を倒置せずに、at no time I haveと言ったら間違い?

some, any, no, none 意味、違い、使い方、使い分け
indefinite quantifier (不定数量詞) some, any, no, none の意味、違い、用法、使い分け方で、例えば、I have money. I have some money. I don't have money. I don't have any money. I have no money. 不定数量詞を伴う英文と伴わない英文には意味(ニュアンス)の違いがあるのか?どういった時に使い分けるべきなのか?といったことについて調べてみました。

同様に、At no time I didは間違い?やっぱりAt no time did Iじゃないとダメなの?

Yes, you do. In some circumstances fronting causes subject/verb inversion, and negative (or limiting) adverbial phrases do this. You are putting a negative adverbial phrase (at no time) at the front of the subject and verb (fronting), which necessitates a full subject/verb inversion (I have -> have I), similar to question inversion.

はい、そうです。場合によって、前置は主語/動詞の倒置を引き起こし、否定(制限)副詞句はこれに当てはまります。否定副詞句(at no time)を主語と動詞(前置)の前に置けば、主語と動詞の倒置((I have → have I)が、疑問倒置のように必要になります。

at no time = neverなので、at no timeを文頭に置けば倒置が必要になります。倒置は強調のために使われますが、さらに強調するために、at no time at allも使えますが、ググってもそんなに出てこないので、あまり使われていないみたいな感じです。絶対にやっていないということを確信を持って言う場合、At no time at all have I ever ~を使えばいいようです。そういう使われ方が実際に下記のニュースサイトでされています。

Attorney says doctor arrested for performing surgery without license is innocent

At no time at all since 2014 has Dr. Johnson ever performed surgery on anyone under any circumstances,”

think better of

think better of = 考え直す、考え直してやめる、(誰かを)見直す、という意味ですが、それ以外の意味もあるような感じですが、その訳が妥当なのかどうかは分かりません。

I would like to know if this expressions has the same meaning as “to think highly of someone”. According to the dictionary, “to think better of someone” means “to have a higher opinion of somebody” and “to think highly of someone” means “to admire or respect someone”.

(think better of someone)が、to think highly of someoneと同じ意味を持っているのかどうかを知りたいのですが、手持ちの辞書によると、to think better of someoneは、誰かのことを見直す、高く評価する、尊敬、賞賛するみたいな意味になるみたいです。

To think better of something can often mean to decide against doing something, despite having intended to do it initially.

If I encountered the phrase, I’d take it to mean to be disappointed at something they have doneto think higher of someone in the sense that something he/she has done fails to live up to one’s expectations of him/her.

think better of somethingは、たいていの場合、当初やろうとしていたことを、考え直してやめることを意味します。もし、私がそのフレーズに遭遇したら、そんなことをするような奴ではないと高く評価していたのに、その行動にはがっかりしたと解釈します。

a little, little, a few, few, lots of, a lot of, many, much の意味と違い
a little, little, a few, fewとa lot of, lots of, many, muchを使う時に気を付けることは、lots ofはインフォーマル過ぎるので会話以外ではあまり使わない。a lot ofも厳格なフォーマル英語が要求される場面では使用は避けた方がいい。それと、much, little, a little (不可算名詞)、many, few, a few(可算名詞)ということです。

別のスレッドでも同じようなことを言っているネイティブと思われる人がいます。

It can also mean (when used of a person, and usually in the past tense) to mean expected better behavior from the person: “That was a cruel thing to do; I thought better of you.” I think this is less common than the primary meaning.

think better ofは(人に対して使う場合で通常過去形)、その人からはもっとまともな行動を期待していたという意味にもなります。例えば、”酷いことするわね、そんなことをする人ではないと思っていたわ”みたいな。考え直してやめるという意味に比べると稀だと思いますが。

think (thought) better of him = 彼を見直した、彼を見損なった

もっと良い人だと思っていたのに、という意味があるのかどうかは分かりませんが、少なくとも二人のネイティブと思われる人達(イギリス人とアメリカ人の二人)が、こういう意味もあるよと言っています。こういう意味合いも確かにあってもおかしくはないとは言えます。
